What is Shiatsu
Shiatsu is a recognized method of complementary therapy https://shiatsuverband.ch/shiatsu-als-therapie/komplementaertherapie/
Shiatsu sees the human being as a unity of body, mind and soul , whose life is characterized by constant processes of change. These processes influence each other and are related to the laws of nature, based on the 5 phases of change.
Shiatsu was developed in Japan and literally means finger pressure, SHI=finger ATSU=pressure. It is based on the meridians known from traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), the energy channels through which the life energy (Qi) flows, and has been supplemented with western therapy techniques. Treatment is not only carried out with the fingers (especially the thumb), but also with the feet, elbows and knees. Due to its origins, it is characterized by the attitude of Zen, mindful being. Mindfulness is one of the basic requirements for being in a flowing energetic connection with the recipient, which is essential in this bodywork.
What does Shiatsu do?
A Shiatsu treatment stimulates the autonomic nervous system and has a balancing effect that can be calming or stimulating. Blood circulation is also stimulated and the entire musculoskeletal system is mobilized. Self-regulatory forces are activated. The therapeutic work accompanies a process whereby self-perception is refined.
